Zoe Hope's Story

A new born Baby was found in a ditch on the side of the road, laying amongst the rubbish, Children heard her crying and stopped a passerby. The baby was taken to the hospital and the police bought the baby to Kabwata orphanage.

The un-named baby was handed to Donna. After the paperwork was completed Jackie said to Donna “you had better name the baby”.

The baby was approximately 36 hours old and may have been in the ditch overnight wrapped in a cloth. Her body temperature was very low and she had to be smothered in Vaseline to keep what little body heat she had, in her.

The baby was bathed and she screamed, it was almost torturous to watch as the baby was hungry, When given a bottle the baby took to the bottle immediately.

Donna had decided to call the baby Lynda, as it would have been nice to have a little Lynda in the orphanage.

Donna text her daughter Lynda to tell her  that she was looking after an abandoned baby. Lynda immediately felt a stab in the heart and text back “that baby is mine” Donna text Lynda back, “you had better name the baby then”. After much deliberation and not much sleep Lynda named the baby Zoe Hope.

And so the journey began .There is much speculation about Zoe Hope’s birth and there is a strong possibility that Zoe Hope is the product  of a young rape victim who did not know what to do when the baby was  born. Placing the baby in the ditch may have been the young mothers only option.

Zoe Hope now lives at Kabwata orphanage and Lynda is financially responsible for all her needs. Lynda is in the process of adopting Zoe Hope and this may take many years but Lynda is determined to provide for Zoe Hope for the rest of her life.
